half a dozen weeks in!

Tonight was jam packed with information....

Sometimes 3 hours isn't enough... We touched just the tip of the iceberg in how to discipline a foster child. My biggest take aways from the evening were that as foster parents we are teachers. Instill and not impose. Create values v.s. rules.

I loved the example Kris gave tonight of the Old Testament; in the old testament its example after example of how the stuff from the outside does nothing (actions can't save us) but its rather what is on the inside what is instilled in us that ACTUALLY benefits us and gives us life.

Instill and not impose.

Teach, influence, lead.

Relationships much be present, its the foundation to build on.

These are all random thoughts that are floating around in my head and I apologize for them not being complete ideas. I just had to get these somewhere.

When talking to a foster mom after class tonight it was so reassuring that I don't have to have all these things known like the back of my hand or figured out yet. She said she picks these training books often to remind her of these skills. I am continuing to pray for wisdom when it comes to handling hurt little ones.

Thanks for letting me throw some words here even if they are all over the place and may not make sense right now. Thanks for the love and support!
